Hidden Canyon’s location on the Missouri River’s canyon reach provides reliable fishing nearly every day of the season. Below Holter Dam, the cold, consistent tailwater supports remarkable trout numbers — often among the highest densities in the country — and generous dry fly hatches before many other rivers have cleared from runoff. Anglers target vibrant wild brown and rainbow trout measuring consistently in the 20–30+ inch range during peak season.

A 50% non‑refundable deposit is required to confirm your reservation. The remaining balance is due 90 days before arrival .
Refunds require 90-day notice prior to arrival date. Within 90 days, deposit is forfeited, but can be applied to another reservation in the same season (based on availability).

Hidden Canyon Lodge is easiest accessed via Great Falls International Airport or Helena Regional Airport — both approximately 30–40 minutes from the lodge by rental car.
Missoula International Airport (MSO) and Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport also serve as alternate gateways, roughly 2+ hours away. Guests are encouraged to reserve rental vehicles in advance, as ground transport flexibility enhances access to river launches, scenic overlooks, and area attractions.
The scenic drive from either airport introduces travelers to central Montana’s rolling plains and river valleys. Lodging staff can assist with local ground transport recommendations, but independent travel is typical given the lodge’s rural canyon setting.
Hidden Canyon Lodge operates April 1 through October 31, taking full advantage of the tailwater’s broad seasonal utility.
Early Season : April–May brings excellent nymph and midge action before runoff affects other waters, and smaller crowds.
Middle Season : June–July is peak tailwater fishing with sustained mayfly and caddis hatches.
Late Season : August–October delivers superb dry fly fishing with Blue‑Winged Olives and rising fish; cooler mornings elevate streamer chances too.
