Casting and knots 101

This is the class to start with if you are looking to try fly fishing. Learn the basics of casting and knot tying. The class is designed for beginners and will cover the fundamental mechanics of casting, hooking, and landing fish. The knot tying covers the basic knots needed to get into the sport.

What's Included
We will provide all the rods and reels, but feel free to bring your own. All students will receive a hat, fly box, and a basic tool kit.

Cost
$150 per student

Classroom Add-On
After the casting and knot tying, feel free to stick around for a short classroom session covering equipment, flies, and more. This hour-long class will dive into the differences in rods, explain leaders and tippet, discuss flies, and more.

2026 calendar

Classes are conducted on Saturday mornings from 8:30am - 10:00am. The casting is done outside behind the shop on East Levee Street.
