Fly Fishing School

Join the Tailwaters instructors as they lead a half-day fly fishing school on bass ponds near Wills Point. Located just 45 minutes from the shop, this half-day school is a great way to learn the basics and get some time on the water. Students will meet at 8am for breakfast tacos and coffee while starting the day learning basic rigging and knots. Next comes a casting lesson on the fundamentals of casting, hooking, and landing fish. After that, hit the water and put it all to use on bass in the private ponds of Private Water Fishing. Tailwaters guides will be on hand to help with fishing on the bank and from boats. Class size is limited to 8 students.

Dates & Time
Our on-the-water classes happen Saturday mornings in the spring. Plan on meeting at the ponds by 7:30am. The class will finish by noon.

What do I need?
Students should wear comfortable footwear that can get dirty. While we won't be wading, we will be fishing from the bank, so expect a little mud and dirt. It's a good idea to wear a hat and polarized sunglasses. We will have rods and reels for students to use, but feel free to bring your own. Our instructors will gladly help you set up your rod and reel.

Cost
$350 per student
