Port O’Connor quite literally sits at the end of the road and serves as the gateway to some of the best redfishing on the Texas coast. Located along the shores of Matagorda Bay, POC—as the locals call it—offers endless miles of coastal marsh, tailing redfish on the flats, and schools of hungry jack crevalle patrolling the nearby deeper water.

We're especially fond of the fall season and intentionally chose the final two weeks of October to showcase this remarkable fishery. As summer gives way to cooler temperatures, boat traffic begins to thin and conditions become increasingly favorable. Larger fish start to appear, including the first push of bull redfish, creating some of the most exciting and productive fishing opportunities of the year.

The Redfish Lodge is one of the newest lodging options in POC. Owned and operated by the Denette Family, they bring over 35 years of experience in the fishing and hospitality industry. Tailwaters will have two suites available, each boasting individual rooms for all guests, along with in suite drinks and snacks. All meals will be chef prepared, and feature cuisine that draws on the flavors of the gulf coast.  The onsite restaurant and bar provides a great place to gather and enjoy great food and drinks while swapping stories from your day on the water.

The guides for this trip are local professionals who spend their days on the water and know these fisheries intimately. Fishing from comfortable skiffs, anglers can access the shallow flats and remote backwaters of Matagorda Bay, putting them within reach of some of the best redfishing on the Texas coast.
