What it is
Hareline Easy Shrimp Eyes are pre-molded eyes made for shrimp and crab flies. They’re symmetrical right out of the package, lightweight, and built from a UV-resistant material with a water-like density, so they don’t feel like a big hunk of weight on the front of the fly. The whole point is durable, matched eyes without you having to fabricate them.
What to tie with it
Tie them in as eyes on shrimp patterns and crab patterns, especially for saltwater flies. Because they’re pre-molded and symmetrical, you’re basically just positioning and securing them where you want them and then building the rest of the head/face around them. They’re also handy any time you want a clean, repeatable set of eyes without painting or assembling DIY eyes.
Flies and the fish they're for
These are made to live on shrimp and crab imitations that get fished for saltwater species that key on crustaceans. Think bonefish and permit on flats, and also redfish and snook around grass, sand, and mangroves—anywhere a shrimp or small crab is a common meal. They also fit right into general inshore saltwater patterns when you want an obvious eye that holds up and doesn’t add much weight.
How it compares
Compared to DIY eyes, these don’t require painting and they don’t require assembly—you tie them in and move on with the fly.
