What it is

Hareline Rabbit Strips are tiger barred rabbit fur cut as strips with the fur left on the hide. In the water the fur breathes and pulses with a natural, swimmy action, and the barred pattern gives a bold contrast look on the fly.

What to tie with it

Use these strips for streamer tails and backs, or as claws on crab, lobster, and crayfish patterns. You can also strip the fur off the hide and use it as dubbing, or wrap the fur (removed from the hide) to build collars.

Flies and the fish they're for

The Double Bunny Zonker Minnow is a classic rabbit-strip streamer for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and it also crosses over well for bass anywhere you’d throw a baitfish profile. Rabbit-strip streamers in this style are also common choices for pike and pickerel when you want a bigger, moving meal in lakes and slow water. The same rabbit-strip approach is routinely used on larger shrimp, crab, and crawfish patterns for species that key on those foods, including bass in freshwater and saltwater predators that hunt crustaceans on the flats.

How it compares

Compared to Hareline Rabbit Fur Strips (the regular, non-barred version), this is the same rabbit-on-hide material but without the subtle, uniform look. The tiger barred strips keep the movement of rabbit while adding the barred pattern and a bolder contrast.
