What it is
The Dr Slick Dubbing Brush and Comb is a 6-inch, dual-ended fly-tying tool built around a Velcro comb on one end and a brass bristle brush on the other. With brass components and a durable, ergonomic build, it gives you precise control at the bench for managing dubbing and other fine fibers.
What to tie with it
Use the Velcro comb to tease out dubbing fibers and to evenly distribute dubbing along a body so it looks consistent instead of clumped. Flip to the brass bristle brush to smooth dubbing bodies, blend transitions, and work both light materials and heavier, more stubborn blends into shape without swapping tools.
Flies and the fish they're for
This is the kind of tool that shows up on almost any dubbing-bodied fly, because it’s about finish and texture rather than a specific pattern. Teased-out dubbing can suggest legs and gills on nymphs fished for trout in rivers, and it can add extra movement to buggy bodies and collars on stillwater trout flies. Smoother, more uniform dubbing bodies are also common on small freshwater patterns for panfish and bass where a clean profile matters.
How it compares
Because it combines a Velcro comb and a brass brush in one dual-ended tool, it replaces the need to keep separate comb and brush tools on your bench.
