What it is

The Hareline Ahrex PR370 is a 60° bent jig-style streamer hook built to ride point-up. That point-up orientation helps it crawl and bounce along the bottom with fewer hang-ups, and it comes in a black nickel finish.

What to tie with it

Use it for streamers and crab patterns you plan to fish near the bottom, especially when you want a jigged, up-riding posture and a big, stable hook gap. It’s a good match for tying bottom-bouncing flies, jig-style presentations, and larger patterns where snag resistance matters.

Flies and the fish they're for

The Chosen One is a bottom-oriented streamer that’s commonly fished for smallmouth and largemouth bass in rivers and lakes, and it benefits from a point-up jig hook when you’re ticking rocks and wood. Sculpin patterns are a staple for trout in freestone rivers and tailwaters where sculpins live tight to the bottom, and this hook helps keep the fly tracking that zone with fewer snags. Kendrick’s Bama Crab is a crab pattern typically aimed at redfish and other flats feeders, and the point-up ride helps when you’re dragging and hopping it through grass and over shell.

How it compares

Compared to standard straight-shank hooks, a jig-style 60° bend like the PR370 is designed to snag less when you’re fishing close to the bottom. Versus fishing those same patterns on a standard hook, you’ll generally get more point-up time and fewer bottom hang-ups.
