What it is
Hareline Angel Silk is a synthetic fly tying fibre made with fine flash strands mixed in. The fibres are soft and flowing in the water with built-in shimmer, and they’re long enough to build full profiles without stacking a lot of material. It’s non-absorbent, fast shedding, and built to hold its shape without matting while staying tear and break resistant.
What to tie with it
Use it for wings and bodies on baitfish streamers by stacking, blending, and tapering clumps to build a smooth minnow profile on the hook. It also fits shrimp patterns where you want a little pulse and shine without the material soaking up water, and it’s at home on big hooks for large freshwater and saltwater flies where durability matters. You can trim it to shape for heads and shoulders, or leave it long for a more mobile wing.

This material is aimed squarely at baitfish and shrimp-style streamers, so think in terms of the common minnow and shrimp patterns you’d throw for warmwater and salt species. Fished as baitfish streamers, it’s in the lane for smallmouth and largemouth bass in rivers and lakes, and for striped bass where they’re keying on bait. In shrimp-style patterns and larger saltwater flies, it lines up with redfish on flats and tarpon in coastal water when you need a big, durable profile that sheds water on the cast.
How it compares
Compared to marabou, it gives a similar lifelike movement but holds up longer. Versus natural materials, it absorbs less water so it stays easier to cast, and compared to similar synthetic fibres it offers longer fibre length for building bigger wings and bodies with fewer ties.
