What it is
Hareline Antron Dubbing is a fly-tying dubbing made from fine trilobal synthetic fiber. It’s easy to apply, has a fine texture for slim bodies, and it throws a noticeable sheen in the water that reads as life on both dries and subsurface flies.
What to tie with it
Use it for tight dubbed bodies on dry flies, nymphs, wets, midges, and even smaller streamer bodies, and for thoraxes when you want a little extra sparkle without bulk. It also works well for nymphal shucks and as a component in dubbing blends when you want to change the look of another dubbing without turning it into a shaggy mess.
Flies and the fish they're for
Deep Sparkle Pupa is a staple caddis pupa/emergent pattern for trout in rivers and tailwaters, especially when fish are keying on ascending pupae. Foam Body Caddis is a dry that targets trout on caddis hatches on freestones and spring creeks, and Antron is commonly worked into the body for that attractor sheen. Wooly Bugger tied with a finer Antron body stays slim for a leech or baitfish look, a go-to for trout in streams and lakes and also a reliable smallmouth pattern in moving water.
How it compares
Compared to Hareline Super Fine Dry Fly Dubbing, Antron is used across all fly types while Super Fine is mainly a dry-fly dubbing; both are fine enough to build sleek bodies without looking fuzzy. If you want the same tidy profile but with more sheen, Antron is the more natural pick.
