What it is
Hareline Arctic Fox Zonker is a zonker strip cut from arctic fox fur. The fibers run long and the strip is packed dense, but the fur stays ultra-soft, so it breathes and pulses hard in the water instead of collapsing.
What to tie with it
Use it as a strip wing on saltwater and freshwater streamers, or wrap and sweep it for a moving collar. It also works well for crab claws, and you can tie it in, then trim it into a baitfish profile when you want a fuller head-and-shoulders shape. Beyond streamers, arctic fox is also a go-to for wings on steelhead and salmon flies, and the same fur makes lively tails and collars.
Flies and the fish they're for
It shows up in patterns like the Batman Fly, Silly Rabbit, and Bunny Fly, where the zonker strip becomes the swimming body or wing that drives the fly’s action. Fish those as baitfish-style streamers for trout and smallmouth in rivers and stillwaters, and they translate well to stripers and inshore saltwater species when you’re matching small bait. Tied as crab claws, the same movement is right at home for redfish on the flats and around marsh edges.
