What it is
Hareline Articulated Fish Spine is an articulated shank kit made to build segmented fly bodies. It’s a pre-assembled “spine” that gives you multiple joints in one piece so the fly body can hinge and swim.
What to tie with it
This is made for articulated fly bodies where you want a defined backbone to tie materials along, then connect to a hook at the back. You use it for building Game Changer-style streamers by dressing each segment, and it also works when you want smaller articulated patterns by choosing finer mono or wire when you add your connections.
Flies and the fish they're for
This kit is a natural fit for the Game Changer and Feather Game Changer, both minnow-imitating articulated streamers. Those patterns get fished for largemouth and smallmouth bass in ponds, lakes, and rivers, and they also translate well to predators like striped bass in moving water. In saltwater, Game Changer-style baitfish profiles are commonly thrown at redfish in shallow bays and marshes when you need a fly that swims on a short strip.
How it compares
Compared with Spawn’s Articulated Shanks, this is a pre-assembled kit rather than individual shanks you piece together. Spawn’s Articulated Super Shank Selection Box offers a wider size range, but it comes at a higher cost.
