What it is
Hareline Aussie Possum is an articulated fly pattern built around Australian possum dubbing. Tied with an articulation, it swims with extra movement and keeps a lifelike profile in the water. The build is meant to hold up, which matters when you’re swinging or stripping it for steelhead.
What to tie with it
Use the Australian possum dubbing to form the body and to build a buggy, tapered profile, either by dubbing directly onto the thread or by making a dubbing loop for more texture. Because the pattern is articulated, you’re also using it in a way that emphasizes motion for prey and fry imitations. Possum dubbing also shows up in smaller emerger-style ties when you want that fuzzy, natural look on a compact hook.
