What it is

Hareline Barred & Speckled Crazy Legs are flat silicone legs with barring and a speckled, flashy flake built in. They come as a welded skirt so both ends are held together, and you peel off the number of strands you need. The strands have a flat, square-ish profile and you can cut them to length for whatever silhouette you’re after.

What to tie with it

Use them anywhere you want legs and built-in movement: palmer a pair through a thorax for nymphs, split them as splayed legs on hoppers and stoneflies, or tie them in as feelers and kickers on streamers. They also work as tails or wing accents when you want a little flash and contrast without adding another material. Because the strands are welded, it’s easy to manage a clean tie-in, then peel off just a few legs at the bench.

Flies and the fish they're for

Rubber Leg Stimulators are a classic place for this material, giving the fly lively legs for trout on rivers and also working as a big attractor dry for opportunistic fish in faster water. Gotchas are a flats staple, and adding silicone legs like these can give extra motion for bonefish (and often permit) when you’re fishing shallow sand and turtle grass. This is also the kind of leg material people lean on for “multiple-fly” leader setups with different rubber-leg looks spaced along the leader, covering fish that key on movement and contrast.

How it compares

Compared with Hareline Round Rubber Legs, these are flat and square in profile rather than round. They also bring barring, speckling, and flash, while the round rubber legs are typically solid without that built-in contrast.
