What it is

Hareline Black Barred Magnum Rabbit Strips are rabbit-fur zonker strips with natural barred markings and dense, ultra-soft fibers. In the water the fur breathes and pulses with very little movement, and it stays responsive once it’s wet, which is why rabbit shows up in so many baitfish and leech-style flies.

What to tie with it

Use it for streamer tails and long wing strips, palmer it as a body for leeches and bunny-style patterns, or lay it over the top as a back and belly on bigger baitfish and shrimp profiles. The magnum cut is sized for larger patterns, and it also makes convincing crab claws for saltwater crab flies.

Flies and the fish they're for

It’s a core material in bunny-style streamers like the Bunny Fly and Silly Rabbit, which are commonly fished for trout and smallmouth in rivers and for pike in stillwaters where you want a fly that swims on the pause. In larger baitfish patterns like the Dirty Stripper, rabbit strip movement translates well to stripers and other aggressive predators, both in freshwater and in salt. Because it’s also used in saltwater streamer and crab-claw applications, it crosses over naturally to flats and beach fishing for species like redfish when you want a fly that keeps moving even at slow retrieve speeds.

How it compares

Compared with Arctic Fox Zonker, these strips run shorter in fiber and show distinct black bars, giving you a more compact rabbit profile with a defined barred look.
