What it is
Hareline Brown Barred Magnum Rabbit Strips are magnum-cut rabbit fur strips cut from hide, with a wider strip and longer fur for building bigger profiles. In the water the fur breathes and swims with very little movement from the angler, and the hide gives you a durable strip you can wrap or tie in as a tail or wing. The barring is subtle, so it reads as natural segmentation without a hard, high-contrast band.
What to tie with it
Use these as zonker strips for streamer wings and backs, or tie them in as long, flowing tails on leech patterns and other large flies. You can also wrap the strip to build a full body quickly, or stack/back-to-back strips to suggest baitfish backs and bellies or larger shrimp shapes. Because they’re magnum width, they shine when you’re tying patterns that want a broader, fuller rabbit silhouette.

Zonker-style rabbit strip streamers built with magnum strips are a staple for trout anywhere you’re swinging or stripping baitfish and sculpin profiles on rivers and stillwaters. They also fit right into “Zonker meets Clouser” style baitfish flies for striped bass in coastal rips, tidal rivers, and reservoirs where you want a strip-friendly, durable rabbit wing. In bigger sizes, this same rabbit-strip approach is commonly used for bass and pike streamers on lakes and warmwater rivers when you need a larger baitfish look and plenty of motion.
How it compares
The brown barring is more subtle than black-barred rabbit, so it gives you a softer, less contrasty barred look on the finished fly.
