What it is
Chocklett’s Belly Foam is a prismatic foam sheet that’s 3 mm thick. That prismatic surface throws a shine and helps a baitfish body read as “real” in the water, while the foam itself brings built-in buoyancy.
What to tie with it
Use it as a body material for floating minnow patterns and small to medium baitfish bodies, or cut it into strips and shape it for streamer bodies. It also fits right into terrestrial and popper patterns where you want a formed, floating body with a little extra flash built into the shell.
Flies and the fish they're for
This is a go-to material for the Gummy Changer style of fly, which is fished as a baitfish imitation for predators like trout, smallmouth, and stripers in rivers and stillwaters, and it crosses over well to inshore saltwater species when they’re keying on small bait. In foam-bug applications, this same sheet style shows up in caddis- and moth-style foam dries that get skated or dead-drifted for trout on freestone rivers and tailwaters, and in topwater terrestrials that get eaten by both trout and warmwater fish.
How it compares
Compared with Loco Foam, this comes in more options and it’s thicker at 3 mm instead of 2 mm, which can matter when you’re building a fuller floating body.
