What it is

Hareline Cohen’s Damsel Tail is a set of pre-cut damselfly nymph tail sections made from ultra-suede. On the hook it stays flexible for natural movement, it holds up well to fish, and you can mark it to match the look you’re after.

What to tie with it

Use it as a ready-to-go tail section on damselfly nymphs, especially when you want that wide, tapered “paddle” tail without building it up by hand. It also works well for extended body damselfly nymphs where you want the tail and back end to be durable and consistent from fly to fly.

Flies and the fish they're for

This material is aimed straight at damselfly and dragonfly nymph patterns, including “Cohen’s Creatures” style flies. Those nymphs are staples for stillwater trout—think lakes, ponds, and reservoirs where trout key on swimming nymphs—and they also cross over to warmwater fishing for species like bluegill and bass that eat damselfly nymphs in weedy shallows.

How it compares

Compared to making a damsel tail by winding strung marabou with thread, this is less cumbersome at the vise and more durable in use. Versus other extended body damselfly methods, it’s an easier tie that still gives you a clean, movable tail profile.
