What it is
Hareline Cone Heads are precision-machined brass cones with a plated, wear-resistant finish. On the hook they add weight up front, and when they’re seated and secured they stay stable without wobbling. If you reverse-mount them, the cone shape also pushes water and helps shape the front profile of the fly.
What to tie with it
Use them to weight streamers and to increase sink rate on baitfish imitations, deep-running minnow patterns, and sculpin patterns. They’re also a clean way to finish the front of a fly that uses spun-hair collars and heads, giving you a built-in, durable nose. Cone heads pair well with lead wraps for shank stability, with the cone helping lock that front-end weight in place.
