It also works well as a rear stinger hook on articulated swinging patterns, and as a hook for tube flies when you want a wide gap without a heavy-wire build.

It also suits midge pupa and midge emerger patterns for trout on tailwaters during steady midge hatches. Tied as a soft-hackle flymph, it’s a strong choice for swinging to trout in riffles and runs, especially when you’re imitating emerging mayflies or caddis.
