What it is

Hareline’s Core C1167 Parachute Dry is a curved-shank dry fly hook with a black nickel finish and a small barb. The bend gives you a shape that sits naturally for parachute-style dries and also translates well to a lot of curved-body bugs like scuds and sowbugs.

What to tie with it

Use it for parachute dry flies where you’re building a post and wrapping the hackle horizontally, and for Klinkhammer-style dries that need that curved profile. It’s also a solid choice for emergers and larva patterns, especially anytime you want the abdomen to tuck down a bit on the curve.

Flies and the fish they're for

The Klinkhammer is the obvious match here, and it’s a dependable trout fly on rivers and spring creeks when fish are eating emergers in or just under the film. Parachute Adams-style parachute dries on this hook are standard trout searching patterns on freestones and tailwaters, and they also pull double duty as the visible top fly in a dry/dropper rig. A Cream Parachute or Rusty Parachute tied on this style of hook is commonly fished for trout while prospecting mayfly hatches, or anytime you need a stable parachute indicator dry.

How it compares

It tracks closely to the Daiichi 1160 Klinkhammer in bend and overall profile, and it’s available in sizes down to 20.
