What it is

Hareline’s Core C2220 is a long-shank, down-eye hook built on strong wire with a bronze finish. The point is chemically sharpened, so it penetrates cleanly, and the long shank gives you room for extended bodies without crowding the head. That down eye sets you up for a neat thread head and a direct leader pull on streamers and long-bodied nymphs.

What to tie with it

This is a straightforward streamer hook for baitfish, crayfish, leech, and salamander shapes, especially when you want length without jumping to an extra-long hook size. It also makes sense for long-body nymph patterns where you need shank space for a stretched abdomen or long profile.

Flies and the fish they're for

Wooly Buggers are a natural fit on this hook, whether you’re fishing them for trout in rivers and stillwaters, or swinging and stripping them for smallmouth in warmwater. Mickey Finns are classic baitfish streamers for trout in moving water, and they also cross over to other predators anywhere small minnows are on the menu. This hook is also commonly chosen for classic streamers like the Muddler Minnow and White Ghost, both staples for trout and other aggressive fish that chase bait in rivers and lakes.

How it compares

It lines up closely with the Mustad R73NP-BR in bronze finish, long shank, down eye, and the same size range, but the C2220’s eye is not turned down as sharply. If you like the R73 profile but want a slightly straighter presentation at the eye, this one gets you there.
