What it is
Hareline Daddy Long Legs are micro fly-tying legs you tie in anywhere you want quick, lifelike movement. They’re tough, durable, and easy to handle at the vise, and the micro size keeps the profile slim while still wiggling and flexing in the water.
What to tie with it
Use them for tails and legs on nymphs, terrestrials, and streamers, and they also work as a small wing or feeler material when you want a little kick without bulk. You can tie them in on top or along the sides, or chop short pieces and spin them into a dubbing loop as inserts to add movement through a body.
Flies and the fish they're for
Sex Dungeon commonly uses rubber legs for extra motion and presence, and it’s fished for aggressive trout, especially big browns, in rivers and stillwaters. Daddy Long Legs also fit right into crane fly “daddy” patterns for trout on rivers and lochs, where fish will stalk and rise to drifting adults.
