What it is
Hareline Double Pupil Brass Eyes are brass dumbbell eyes with a double pupil look built in. They’re non-toxic and lighter than lead eyes, but they still add weight and a clear “eye” target at the front of the fly.
What to tie with it
Tie them in at the front of the hook to add weight and give the fly a jigging motion on the strip. Lash them on top of the shank when you want the hook to ride point-up, which helps cut down snags around structure and works well for bottom-bouncing rigs. They’re a fit for nymphs and streamers in both freshwater and saltwater patterns when you want weight plus an eye profile.
Flies and the fish they're for
Clouser Minnows are the classic dumbbell-eye streamer for smallmouth and largemouth bass in rivers and lakes, and also a staple for stripers and inshore saltwater fish like redfish when you need a baitfish that rides hook-point up. Christmas Island Specials commonly show up in flats boxes for bonefish and permit, where the eyes help the fly get down and track correctly over sand and coral. Lead Eyed Gotchas are a go-to bonefish fly on shallow flats, with the eyes providing the weight and the eye/trigger point up front.

Compared with Hareline Painted Lead Eyes, these give a more realistic double pupil look. They’re also lighter than lead eyes in the same size.
