What it is
Hareline Dyed Pearl Diamond Braid is a dyed, pearl-finish braided body material with a flashy, reflective sheen. It’s built to be wrapped on the hook like chenille, laying down a bright, slightly structured body with natural-looking segmentation.
What to tie with it
Use it for wrapped bodies on baitfish patterns, crab bodies, and smaller profiles like midges and emergers where you want flash without adding a bunch of bulk. Most tyers tie it in at the bend and wind it forward in touching or slightly spaced wraps, then tie off and coat if they want extra durability and a smoother finish.
Flies and the fish they're for
It shows up in Diamond Braid crab patterns for species that eat crabs in the salt, especially redfish and permit on shallow flats. Ray’s Fly is a classic trout pattern, fished on rivers and stillwaters as a searching nymph. The Half and Half is a baitfish streamer for predators like striped bass, smallmouth, and largemouth, and it crosses over well into inshore saltwater for fish like redfish where a slim, flashy baitfish body helps.

Compared with Bill’s Body Braid, Diamond Braid is less flat, so it tends to build a rounder, more rope-like body when you wrap it.
