What it is
Hareline Dyed Pearl Flashabou is dyed, pearl-finish Flashabou: synthetic flash strands with an iridescent shimmer. The strands are limp so they pulse and sweep with very little current or strip, and they hold up well for a flash material.
What to tie with it
Use it as an accent mixed into wings and tails, or as a few strands along the sides for a lateral-line pop on streamers and nymphs. You can also wrap it as a body rib, tie it in as a full tail, or add it as a collar/shoulder veil for extra movement on predator patterns.
Flies and the fish they're for
Flashabou shows up in a lot of streamer work for fish that key on bait, so it fits naturally in patterns for trout and smallmouth in rivers and tailwaters, and for stripers anywhere you’re swinging or stripping bigger flies. It’s also a staple add-in on steelhead and salmon flies, where a few durable, limp strands keep moving even on the slow swing. In caddis-style patterns like the Flashabou Caddis, it’s used to add shimmer to a trout dry or emerger profile on freestones and spring creeks.
