What it is

Hareline Edge Bright is a synthetic, stretchy wrap material built to be wound over a hook shank. It’s durable, and the fluorescent, glowing edge shows through as you wrap it so the body gets a bright, lit-up accent in the water.

What to tie with it

Use it like a stretch skin: bind in a strip and wrap it forward for bodies, then tie it off and coat if you want extra protection. It also works well pulled over and anchored as a bright scud back or folded over as a wingcase on nymphs.

Flies and the fish they're for

The Edge Bright Comet is a known pattern tied with this material, and it’s fished for steelhead in Great Lakes tribs and Pacific Northwest rivers. More generally, Edge Bright-style scud backs and wingcases fit right into common caddis and mayfly nymph builds that trout eat in freestone rivers and tailwaters, especially when you want a little extra pop without adding bulk.

How it compares

Compared to Hareline Scud Back Material, Edge Bright brings more of that fluorescent, glowing edge effect, while Scud Back gives you a more muted look.
