What it is
Hareline Embossed Flashback Pearl is an embossed, pearl flashback sheet you cut into strips, shells, or body panels. It’s reflective with a textured surface, so it throws light but keeps a more natural-looking sheen than a perfectly smooth flash. It lays flat when you want it to, but the embossing helps it show some “scale” or segmentation once it’s tied in and coated.
What to tie with it
Use it for nymph wing cases and backs on flashback-style nymphs by tying it in at the bend, building your body, then folding it over and locking it down behind the bead or thorax. It also works as an outer skin for resin streamer bodies: cut a taper, wrap or lay it over the body, then seal with UV resin for a durable, flashy baitfish look. You can also cut small accents for wings and backs when you want a little pop without going full mirror.
Flies and the fish they're for
Surf Candy is a natural fit for this material because the embossed, reflective sheet becomes that translucent, baitfish “skin” once you cover it in resin. Fish Surf Candies for striped bass and false albacore along beaches and jetties, and for bluefish and bonito when they’re keyed on small bait. In freshwater, the same resin-body baitfish idea crosses over to trout and smallmouth when they’re eating minnows in rivers and tailwaters.
How it compares
Compared to standard Hareline Flashback, this embossed version adds texture and tends to read less like a flat mirror flash, while still being plenty reflective. The regular Flashback is smoother and brighter, and it comes in a wider range.
