Hareline Faceted Slotted Tungsten Beads

What it is

Hareline Faceted Slotted Tungsten Beads are slotted, faceted beads made from tungsten. The faceted surface gives you reflective facets, and the tungsten adds weight for a faster sink rate. The slot is designed to mount cleanly on jig hooks and helps the fly ride hook point up.

What to tie with it

Use them to build bead-head nymphs and bead-head jig streamers, especially when you want a jig-style bead mounting. Slide the slotted bead onto the hook, seat it at the eye, and tie your body and collar materials right up to it; you can also add extra weight under the body when you need to get down faster. Because it’s a slotted bead, you can often fit a larger bead on a smaller hook than you can with a standard round bead.

Flies and the fish they're for

These beads show up on classics like the Pheasant Tail, Gold Ribbed Hare’s Ear, and Prince Nymph when you’re weighting them for trout in rivers and tailwaters. They’re also a natural fit for Euro nymph rigs where you’re fishing tight-line for trout and need the fly to sink quickly and track hook point up. On small jig-streamer patterns like a Micro Jig Bugger, they add weight up front for trout and smallmouth when you’re bouncing or swimming the fly near the bottom.
