What it is
Hareline Fluorescent Bucktail Combo is a combo pack of bucktail natural hair fiber. It’s hollow, springy hair that flares with thread pressure and keeps a clean profile while still giving you natural movement in the water. On the hook it stacks, spins, and tapers well, which is why it shows up in so many baitfish and popper styles.
What to tie with it
Use it for streamer wings, tails, and collars, especially on hairwing streamers where you want a tapered, mobile baitfish silhouette. It also makes a solid popper tail material, and it’s a go-to for hollow-style builds where you’re stacking bucktail to create bulk without a ton of weight. At the vise you’ll mostly be stacking and selecting hair for even tips, then tying it in as a wing or collar with controlled flaring.
Flies and the fish they're for
This is right at home in Clouser Minnows for smallmouth and largemouth bass in rivers and lakes, stripers in rips and bays, and redfish on shallow flats. Tie it into Lefty’s Deceiver and Bucktail Deceiver styles for striped bass along the coast, bluefish around bait, and also for largemouth and pike when you need a bigger profile. It’s also a staple material in Hollow Fleye and Beast Fleye patterns for stripers and other saltwater predators where hollow-tied bucktail builds a larger baitfish shape that still swims and casts well.
How it compares
Compared to Hareline Large Northern Bucktail, this is a combo pack rather than a full tail in a single color. Compared to Hareline’s regular Bucktail Combo Pack, this version is the fluorescent set rather than non-fluorescent colors.
