What it is

Bruiser Blend Dark Color Dispenser is a synthetic dubbing blend with flash mixed in. The fibers are short, so it dubs tight to the thread and then brushes out clean for a buggy look with a light flash level. It comes in a reusable dispenser package.

What to tie with it

Use it for direct-dubbed bodies and thoraxes when you want a tight, controlled noodle that you can pick out into legs and fuzz. It also shines in dubbing loops for bodies, and for building small streamer heads and bodies on leeches, crayfish, and shrimp-style patterns.

In a Sparkle Minnow, this makes a buggy, lightly flashy body or head that’s fished as a baitfish streamer for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and it can also cross over to smallmouth and stripers where a compact baitfish profile is the deal. In a Near Nuff Crayfish, it’s right at home in the body to suggest a craw, a classic smallmouth bass fly in rocky rivers and a trout fly anywhere fish key on crayfish. It also fits the Bruiser Bugger style of Woolly Bugger—still a leech-and-baitfish fly for trout, panfish, and bass in moving water and lakes.

Compared to Bruiser Blend, this version has shorter fibers, so it’s less shaggy and easier to control on small flies. Compared to blending in Ice Dub separately, the flash is already built in, so you don’t need an extra flash mix step.
