Hareline Fly Fish Food's Jr Bruiser Blend
$3.54 USD
Color: Alpha Wolf #1
What it is
Jr Bruiser Blend is a synthetic dubbing blend with a light amount of flash mixed right in. The fibers are short, so it dubs tight and stays controlled on the hook, and it brushes out clean for a translucent, buggy look. If you hit it with an adhesive coat it sheds water instead of turning into a soggy mop.
What to tie with it
Use it for direct dubbing on a thread body or in a dubbing loop when you want a dense, compact profile for small streamer bodies, thoraxes, and heads. It’s a natural fit for leeches, crayfish bodies, and shrimp patterns where you want some movement and a bit of internal sparkle without long, wild fibers.
Flies and the fish they're for
Sparkle Minnow bodies and heads are a prime use, and that fly gets fished for trout in rivers and stillwaters, as well as warmwater fish like smallmouth in creeks and rivers. The Near Nuff Crayfish is right in its lane for building a tight, brushable crayfish body, and crayfish patterns are staples for smallmouth in rocky rivers and for trout anywhere crayfish are on the menu.
How it compares
Compared to the standard Bruiser Blend, the Jr version has shorter fibers and a less shaggy profile, which helps it behave on smaller flies. Compared to Ice Dub, the flash is already blended in, so you don’t have to mix your own to get that subtle sparkle.
