What it is

Jr Bruiser Blend is a synthetic dubbing mix with short fibers and just a touch of flash built in. It dubs down tight and stays tidy on the hook, then when you pick it out it brushes clean into a buggy, lightly translucent halo. Because the fibers are short, it won’t get bulky fast on small hooks.

What to tie with it

Use it for direct dubbing on thread for small bodies and thoraxes, or spin it in a dubbing loop when you want a tougher, more textured streamer body. It’s a natural fit for compact heads on small streamers, and it brushes out nicely for leeches, crayfish, and shrimp profiles without needing a lot of material.

In a Sparkle Minnow, this stuff works as the buggy, flashy body that helps sell the baitfish look for trout in rivers and tailwaters, and it also crosses over well to smallmouth and other bass when you’re fishing minnow-style streamers in moving water. On a Near Nuff Crayfish, it helps build that scruffy crayfish body for trout and smallmouth in rocky rivers where crayfish are on the menu.

How it compares

Compared to the regular Bruiser Blend, the Jr version is less shaggy and is better scaled to smaller flies. Versus Ice Dub, the flash is already mixed in so you can get that little bit of sparkle without having to add extra flash material.
