What it is

Hareline Frog Foam is a foam body cutter tool for turning sheet foam into frog bodies at the bench. It uses stainless steel cutting edges to make clean, precise cuts in consistent sizes. The handle is lightweight with a comfortable grip, and the cutter is built for durable cutting performance.

What to tie with it

Use it to cut matching foam frog bodies instead of trimming each one freehand. It’s made for topwater frog pattern bodies where you want repeatable shape and sizing from fly to fly. After cutting, you tie the body onto the hook and finish the pattern like any foam bug with your normal thread control and cementing.

Flies and the fish they're for

This tool is used to build foam frog-style surface bugs that get eaten readily by bass, and it also crosses over to panfish frog patterns in ponds and lakes. It’s right at home for simple summer topwater flies where you want consistent bodies for repeatable action and profile. It’s also a natural fit for foam frog patterns in the style of Mihulka’s Foam Frog, a known topwater bass fly for warmwater fishing.

How it compares

Compared to cutting bodies by hand and ending up with uneven, misshapen foam, this cutter gives you consistent shapes with clean edges from one frog to the next.
