What it is
Hareline Frostip Rabbit Strips are rabbit fur zonker strips with frosted tips over a darker underfur. The fibers are ultra-soft and densely packed, so they breathe and sweep in the water with very little movement. Like any rabbit strip they soak up water, which adds weight and keeps the strip swimming and pulsing once it’s wet.
What to tie with it
Tie it in as a zonker wing or a full rabbit-strip body on streamers, either palmered up the shank or laid as a crosscut-style wrap if you’re building bulk fast. It also works well as a moving tail, or trimmed into paired claws on crab patterns where you want motion without adding extra parts. The frosted tip and natural barring effect give you built-in contrast along the top edge of a strip when you’re stacking backs and bellies on bigger baitfish or shrimp-style patterns.
Flies and the fish they're for
Dirty Stripper-style streamers are a natural fit for this material and get fished for striped bass and other chasing predators in moving water and along banks. A Silly Rabbit is a classic rabbit-strip streamer for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and it crosses over easily to bass when you upsize it. Bunny Fly patterns built from rabbit strips are commonly thrown for pike and largemouth where a big, swimming profile and lots of motion matter, and they also translate well to saltwater streamer fishing when you’re imitating baitfish.
How it compares
Compared to Hareline Black-barred rabbit fur strips, the difference here is the coloration scheme: frosted tips over dark underfur rather than black barring. If you’re choosing between the two, you’re mostly picking the look you want, since the core rabbit-strip action is the same.
