What it is
Hareline Furry Foam is a synthetic foam sheet with a fuzzy face that gives it texture and movement. It’s water-absorbent, so it tends to fish subsurface with a lively, undulating action, and it holds up well. At the bench it’s easy to cut into shapes or slice into thin strips.
What to tie with it
Use it for crayfish and crab bodies, crustacean claws, and as a quick, buggy body on nymphs, emergers, and streamers. Most tyers either cut it to a silhouette for shells and claws, or cut narrow strips and wrap it as a body material. It also works as a simple wing material when you want that fuzzy profile without adding a lot of bulk.

Clouser’s Crayfish is a natural fit for Furry Foam because it gives you a durable, animated crayfish profile for fish that key on crustaceans. Fished along the bottom, it’s a staple for smallmouth bass in rivers and lakes, and it’s also a good option for largemouth bass and trout anywhere crayfish are on the menu. The same sheet-and-strip approach that makes it work on that pattern carries over to crab-style flies for saltwater species that feed on crabs on flats and around structure.
