What it is
Hareline Glow In The Dark Flashabou is a metallic flash tinsel that throws a hard flash and also glows after it’s been “charged” by light. On the hook it’s a thin, slick strand material you can lay in as an accent or wrap as a body, and in the water it helps a fly show up when light is low or visibility is compromised.
What to tie with it
Use it as a few strands in a streamer tail or wing to add flash and a rechargeable glow accent without changing the whole profile of the fly. It also works wrapped as a small nymph body, and it’s a common add-on for ice fishing jig tying when you want the pattern to stay visible down deep or in dim light.
Flies and the fish they're for
Glow in the Dark Clouser Minnow variations use glow flash as part of the baitfish look, and they’re fished for striped bass in moving water and along current edges, especially when light is low. The same Clouser style is also a standard for smallmouth bass in rivers and reservoirs and for redfish on shallow salt flats, where a little flash helps fish track the fly in off-color water.
How it compares
Compared with Hedron Flashabou Glow In The Dark Accent, this material is not as slim or twisted. The Hedron version is better suited when you’re tying smaller patterns and want a tighter, more compact glow flash accent.
