Color: Baitfish Green #05
What it is
Hareline Grizzly Fibre is a barred synthetic fly-tying fibre with a grizzly-style banded pattern. The fibres are durable, easy to handle at the vise, and they trim cleanly when you’re shaping a wing or cleaning up a profile.
What to tie with it
Use it anywhere you’d reach for a barred accent: as a streamer wing, a baitfish topping, a tail, or a lateral line to give a minnow profile some contrast. It’s straightforward to stack, pinch, and tie in as a small bundle, and it’s easy to shorten and taper with scissors once it’s on the hook.
Flies and the fish they're for
Grizzly Fibre fits naturally into baitfish and streamer work for fish that hunt minnows, like trout in rivers and stillwaters, smallmouth in rivers, and redfish in the marsh. It also has a place in classic trout flies: the Grizzly King wet fly is a traditional trout pattern for streams and rivers, swung or fished on a wet-fly drift. For dry-fly anglers, the Grizzly and Gray is fished for trout on creeks and rivers as a general searching dry, and it’s commonly presented to rising fish like you would other small, impressionistic dries.
How it compares
It’s built to mimic the barred, grizzly-hackle look, but in a synthetic fibre that’s tougher and easier to trim and manage in larger bunches than a feather.
