What it is
Hare’E Ice Dub is a dubbing blend made by mixing Ice Dub with Hare’s Ear dubbing. In the hand it dubs easily, but the hare fur keeps it looking rough and “buggy” instead of slick, and the Ice Dub adds a subtle, light-catching sheen in the water.
What to tie with it
Use it anywhere you’d normally build a dubbed body or thorax, especially on nymphs, wets, and emergers where you want texture without losing durability. It also works well in a dubbing loop when you need more bulk for bigger profiles, including streamer-style dubbed bodies and larger steelhead and salmon patterns.
Flies and the fish they're for
You can tie a Hare’s Ice Dub Nymph with it as a simple, all-purpose buggy nymph. That kind of pattern covers a lot of water: trout in rivers and stillwaters, plus warmwater fish like panfish and bass when you fish it as a small subsurface bug. It’s also at home on larger, dubbed-body flies swung or stripped for steelhead and salmon.
How it compares
Compared to straight Hareline Ice Dub, Hare’E Ice Dub reads more natural and buggy because of the hare fur, and the flash comes through more subtly rather than looking like a full-on sparkle dubbing.
