What it is
Hareline Dubbin is a blended dubbing made from 100% natural rabbit fur. It’s easy to work on the thread and has a naturally absorbent, non-waterproof character once it’s on the hook.
What to tie with it
Use it for dubbed bodies on nymphs, emergers, and streamers, either as a tight noodle for a slim profile or picked out for a buggy look. Because it isn’t waterproof, it’s not a great choice for dry flies where you’re trying to keep the body riding high and dry.
Flies and the fish they're for
Hare’s Ear Nymph is the classic pattern here, and rabbit-fur dubbing gives it that buggy body that trout and panfish key on in rivers and stillwaters. The GTI Caddis uses rabbit dubbing to build an emerger-style body that’s fished for trout when caddis are hatching and pupae are drifting up in current.
How it compares
Compared with dry-fly dubbing, Hareline Dubbin soaks up water rather than shedding it, so it isn’t recommended for dries where flotation matters.
