What it is

Hareline Holographic Braid is a holographic, braided tying material that lays smooth on the hook and throws a lot of sparkle. It’s durable, handles easily at the vise, and it wraps into a clean, flashy surface when you wind it.

What to tie with it

Use it for wound bodies and wound thoraxes when you want a quick, even wrap that still has a bright, holographic look. You can also split the braid for a tail or to add flash accents into wings and bodies, and it shows up a lot in both freshwater streamer bodies and saltwater patterns where you need something that holds up.

Flies and the fish they're for

It’s a common choice for loopwing emergers and baetis-style emerger patterns when you want a flashy thorax for trout on rivers and tailwaters. It also fits right into epoxy minnow and sand eel style flies as a body wrap, which are standard baitfish imitations for stripers in the surf and bays, and for redfish on shallow flats. In stillwater, braid-bodied lures and buzzer-style patterns are a regular trout play when fish are cruising lakes and reservoirs.

How it compares

Compared with Hareline Flat Diamond Braid, the flat construction is used when you’re trying to keep bodies slimmer and smoother.
