What it is

Hareline Holographic Cactus Chenille is a cactus-style chenille built on a durable thread core with an ultra-flashy synthetic exterior. The holographic fibers throw a bright, flashy look in the water, and the core holds up well when you’re wrapping and fishing it hard.

What to tie with it

Use it as a wrap material for flashy bodies, especially on streamer bodies and larger profiles where you want bulk quickly. It’s also a common way to enhance a Wooly Bugger body without changing the rest of the recipe, and it fits right into steelhead and salmon-style body wraps when you want that extra flash.

Flies and the fish they're for

Wooly Bugger bodies are a natural place for holographic cactus chenille when you’re after fish that like a little shine, like trout in rivers and lakes and smallmouth in moving water. In a heavier, flashier Bugger-style streamer it also crosses over well to warmwater and inshore-style fishing where bass and other predators key on a bright baitfish or leech profile.

How it compares

Compared with Hareline Ice Chenille, it shares a similar thread core but has more flash; Ice Chenille is the more subtle, natural-looking option when you want the same basic build with less brightness.
