What it is

Hareline Ice Chenille is a fly-tying chenille built from an Ice Dubbing and Antron blend. It wraps easily, has reflective sparkle in the fibers, and it’s durable enough to stand up to teeth and repeated fish. On the hook it holds its structure, so you can build a clean, consistent body without fighting it.

What to tie with it

Use it as a body material on everything from micro nymph bodies to larger streamer and bass-bug style bodies, depending on the diameter you pick. It’s right at home palmered or straight-wrapped on Woolly Buggers, leech patterns, and other streamers, and it also works for compact, segmented nymph bodies where you want some flash without adding extra steps.

Flies and the fish they're for

Woolly Buggers tied with Ice Chenille bodies are staple freshwater streamers for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and they’re just as common for smallmouth in creeks and rivers. Leech patterns built with it are a go-to for trout and panfish in lakes and ponds, especially when you’re fishing slow and close to bottom. Simcoe Bugs tied with Ice Chenille are popular ice-season panfish flies, and cased caddis patterns with a chenille body get fished for trout in rivers and for panfish when you’re jigging in stillwater.
