Hareline Ice Dub

What it is

What to tie with it

Use it anywhere you’d use dubbing: twist it onto your thread for nymph and dry-fly bodies, or build a slightly buggier noodle for fuller profiles. It also shines in dubbing loops for thicker streamer bodies and collars, and it’s a solid choice when you want a bright trigger point in a thorax or hotspot area.

Flies and the fish they're for

On trout nymphs like Czech Nymphs, Ice Dub is commonly used to make a standout thorax or “heart” that helps the fly get noticed in fast rivers and tailwaters. It also fits right into modern streamer tying when you want a durable, flashy body for trout and smallmouth in moving water. For coastal cutthroat, tyers will even wrap a fat Ice Dub dubbing loop around barbell eyes on saltwater patterns to add bulk and sparkle without giving up toughness.
