What it is
Hareline Ice Dub Chenille is a fly-tying chenille made from an Ice Dubbing blend with Antron mixed in. On the hook it wraps easily, builds a full body fast, and holds its structure while giving off reflective sparkle in the water. It’s durable, so it stands up to a lot of fish and a lot of casts.
What to tie with it
Use it anywhere you want a quick, consistent body without having to dub a noodle every time. It’s made for wrapped bodies on Woolly Buggers, leeches, streamers, and baitfish imitations, and it also works well when you want a thicker, bulked-up body on larger bugger-style flies or crayfish patterns. Tie it like standard chenille: catch it in, wrap touching turns or slightly spaced turns, and tie it off clean at the front.
Flies and the fish they're for
The classic place this material shows up is the Woolly Bugger, where it makes a fast, durable body with built-in flash. Fish buggers for trout in rivers and stillwaters, for smallmouth in creeks and rivers, and for panfish in ponds and lakes. The same sparkly chenille-body idea also carries over to leech and baitfish-style streamers that get eaten by anything hunting meat in freshwater.
