Hareline Kona Bgh Big Game Hunter Hooks 12 Pack

What it is

Kona BGH Big Game Hunter Hooks are short-shank streamer hooks built from forged high-carbon steel with a black-nickel finish. They’re made with a wide gap and a barbed, ultra-sharp point, and the finish is corrosion resistant for tying flies that see hard use.

What to tie with it

This is a go-to platform for robust streamers where you want a compact hook shank but plenty of bite in the gap. It shows up constantly in articulated builds, either as the main hook behind shanks or as the trailing hook on Game Changer-style rigs, and it’s also a strong choice for tarpon flies where strength and point quality matter.

Flies and the fish they're for

Game Changer patterns are the obvious match here: you’re tying a multi-jointed baitfish that gets fished for predators like largemouth and smallmouth bass in lakes and rivers, and also for inshore saltwater species where a baitfish profile shines. In heavier salt applications, the same hook style gets used under tarpon flies, where the short shank and wide gap help keep a bulky profile from choking the hook point when you’re targeting tarpon in coastal bays, beaches, and passes.
