What it is

Hareline Krystal Dub is a dubbing blend that mixes rabbit dubbing with Ice Dub. On the hook it dubs on easily, builds a textured body, and gives you both a natural look and a reflective, flashy look. In the water it moves well and it will absorb water, which helps it settle in and look alive.

What to tie with it

Use it anywhere you’d normally dub a body: nymphs, emergers, wet flies, streamers, and crustaceans. It works well spun in a dubbing loop for fuller, brushier bodies, and it’s also easy to simply dub directly onto your thread for slimmer profiles. It fits freshwater and saltwater patterns when you want motion plus a bit of flash without going to an all-synthetic body.

Flies and the fish they're for

Tied in a dubbing loop for the body on Woolly Buggers and leech patterns, it’s a strong choice for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and also for smallmouth in rivers and ponds where a pulsing, slightly flashy body helps. That same looped-body approach carries over to saltwater flies like the Casa-style baitfish patterns, where the reflective fibers read as life in moving water for species like striped bass, redfish, and seatrout.

How it compares

Compared to rabbit dubbing alone, the Ice Dub in the blend adds extra reflectivity while keeping the natural, buggy look. Compared to Ice Dub alone, the rabbit brings more natural texture and movement while still giving you a brighter, flashier body than straight fur.
