What it is
Hareline Krystal Flash Chenille is a flash chenille built from Krystal Flash wrapped on a thread core. It lays in with touching wraps easily, adds a lot of flash without turning into a stiff rope, and it has subtle movement in the water.
What to tie with it
Use it anywhere you’d normally reach for chenille but want more shine: bodies, thoraxes, and compact heads on both streamers and wet flies. Wrap it like standard chenille with touching turns, or build a double layer for extra presence while still keeping good control with thread tension.
Flies and the fish they're for
Schminnow is a go-to baitfish-style streamer with this material, fished for trout and also for bass anywhere you’re chasing small fish and bigger appetites in rivers and lakes. A Flash Bugger uses it to give a Woolly Bugger-style profile more visibility and flash for trout, bass, and even steelhead in moving water. Gurglers tied with a flashy body like this show up well on top for bass in freshwater and for inshore saltwater fish like redfish when you’re fishing shallow flats.
How it compares
Compared with Estaz, Krystal Flash Chenille is built from Krystal Flash on a thread core rather than flat mylar on a thread core, so the flash character comes from the Krystal Flash makeup rather than mylar.
