What it is

Hareline Micro Barred Voodoo Fibers are micro black-barred synthetic tying fibers with a built-in barred pattern. They’re durable, have high movement in the water, and they handle easily at the vise when you’re placing just a few strands or building up a small bundle.

What to tie with it

Use it as flash-style accents and barred-effect accents in nymphs and streamers, either as a few strands in a wing or tail, or tied in as lateral/contrast bars. You can also wrap it for slim nymph bodies, including tight, smooth bodies like perdigons, and it shows up a lot in shrimp and squid-style patterns as feelers, legs, or accent fibers.

Flies and the fish they're for

In Woolly Buggers, a few Micro Barred Voodoo Fibers in the tail or as accent strands add movement and a barred/contrast look that plays well for trout in rivers and stillwaters, and also for warmwater fish like largemouth and smallmouth bass. Used in baitfish and flats patterns as accent fibers, it fits right into the bonefish world on shallow salt flats, where subtle contrast and movement help sell shrimp and small baitfish. Wrapped into slim nymph bodies and perdigon-style nymphs, it’s a natural fit for trout in fast runs and pocket water where a thin profile and a little visual edge can matter.
