What it is

Hareline Micro Silicone Legs are micro-size silicone legs for fly tying. They’re half the width and half the thickness of standard silicone legs, so they add subtle movement without building bulk. Silicone holds up well, stays flexible, and is easy to work with at the vise.

What to tie with it

Use them for legs and feelers on small patterns where standard rubber legs look too heavy: think cicadas and other terrestrials, plus low-bulk nymph and jig-style bugs. They also shine as shrimp and crayfish legs and as antennae on saltwater and freshwater crustacean patterns. Tie them in as individual legs, doubled through a tie-in point, or as short cut segments for compact, buggy profiles.

Flies and the fish they're for

On a Jigged Girdle Bug, micro silicone legs give you the pulsing leg action that triggers trout in rivers and tailwaters, and they also translate well to warmwater versions for smallmouth in streams and rivers. For foam terrestrial dries like the Pink Pookie Hopper and big attractor dries like Lake Caddis patterns, micro legs let you keep the profile tidy while still giving trout something to key on in freestone streams and summer tailwaters. In saltwater shrimp and crab-style flies, these legs/antennae help sell the crustacean look for species like redfish on flats and in marshes.

How it compares

Compared to traditional silicone legs and Hareline Crazy Legs, these are half the width and half the thickness, so they’re more subtle and lower-bulk for smaller flies. Hareline Grizzly Micro Legs are the same micro size, just in grizzly barred patterns.
